MyRidz.com: Get out there™

Palomar

Got up this AM and decided riding was a good idea.  To where...  I did not know.  What did happen - without any particular plan - is that we rode to Palomar Observatory.  You can trace the route on the map and get the mileage....  But let me say this it is a great ride up to the top.

I took the Aprilia Mille Rsv - Great bike but scary fast and very nimble - watch the throttle on those liter bikes friends.  Saw a guy lose his life last weekend on Ortega Highway because of speed GOING INTO THE TURN.  I never want to see something like that again...   All together now... "SLOW in ... and FAST out."   (The other way around doesn't work - it's just basic physics).

I took Ortega Highway (74) to the I15 South, then exited onto Rte 76 headed East.  From the 76, you will see signs in about 20 miles for Palomar...  yes go that way.

The road goes to the top traveling through about 8 miles of the tightest wildest up hill turns in So Cal.  Thumbs UpThumbs UpThumbs Up

Be careful.  The road is crowded with every racer and psuedo racer in the Southland early in the day (7 - 11AM).  There are always crashes... always. Thumbs Down   We went through at about 12PM and it was open and cool with very few cars.  There are safe passing sections throughout the ride too.

Worth the trip!
