Road Atlanta
Spent two days at the Kevin Schwantz Suzuki School.
http://www.schwantzschool.com/ Had great weather and road a great track. It's a 2.5 mile circuit with lots of challenges. The track was a bit crowded with slower riders.... but it is a school and I was there to learn. What did I learn this time: The clutchless upshift - I do it all the time now. It saves motion. And as Kevin Schwantz said, I don't want to think about more than two things at any given moment - diverts attention and creates excess motion. at the KSSS it's always KISS Pick up your vision - heard it before - but it is a practiced skill. It is not natural. It must be a conscious decision. Weight the outside peg. Not too much but enough to keep the tire down on the road. Find your refernece points. AT KSSS they use cones to set this up for you - so I got a little lazy, but by the end of the 2nd day I did not even see them anymore I had selected my own based on sight, road surface and feel in relation to marks on the track. I got much better at blipping. This is not such a big deall on the Suzuki GSXR600, but it is a big deal on my Aprilia Mille RSV. Good skill to keep the bike stable. Breathing. Yes really. Slowing the breath down gets you smoother. A little ZEN is a good thing. I am really good at leaning now and I am picking up my speed and dragging knees at will - almost natural outcome of proper body position and turn entry. SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET!
